Why Paris?
With the kids away at summer camp, we spent five days of our two week Europe / UK adventure roaming the streets of Paris. Having been to Paris for the first time in 2019, we were eager to get back and explore some of the cities areas that we did not get to the first time around. We love Paris for it's cafe culture, beautiful neighborhoods, outstanding food, and of course the museums.

We stayed in Le Marais at hotel Jules and Jim and loved it. We arrived in the morning and after a short wait the hotel was able to get us a room well before the afternoon check in time. This boutique hotel is located on a quaint street in Le Marais and is convenient for navigating all part of this city. We opted to have our breakfast included and we were happy that we did. The pastries were outstanding and sourced fresh from the local boulangerie, they offered multiple types of butter (my favorite!), eggs, and everything else you would want to start your day.
To fully immerse ourselves in Paris and learn more about French culture, we booked two tours with Paris by Mouth that we highly recommend.
Wine Tasting
After resting in our room on day 1, we did the Monday wine tasting. The tour took place at a lovely wine shop in the Latin Quarter. Our guide took us through everything we needed to know about French wine and taught us how to navigate ordering wine in French restaurants. The tasting included cheese and charcuterie that was equally delicious.
Le Marais Food Walking Tour
This tour took us to many of the hidden gems in Le Marais including a boulangerie with the best croissant in Paris, artisan chocolate, delectable charcuterie, cheese, and more while learning about the history of protected French foods. After walking around and tasting some of the food, our guide took us to a lovely wine store where he set up a spread with wine and took us through a tasting.
Museum lovers have no shortage of options in Paris. Having been to the Louve during our 2019 trip, we opted for smaller museums this time around. Musée d'Orsay was a highlight for their impressionist collection. For those who are looking for an elaborate museum experience, we recommend Rick Steve's Paris Guidebook which has fantastic self guided tours.
Maybe it's the culture, maybe it's the appeal of Emily in Paris, maybe it's the butter...but, in our opinion, Paris is right for just about anyone.
Paris is especially appealing for those busy parents who want to relax and watch the people go by while sipping an Aperol Spritz. Spend your days exploring the city on foot, browsing in boutiques, and snacking on French treats along the way.
