Punta Cana - All Inclusive

A Punta Cana all-inclusive made family travel easy, relaxing, and ideal for all ages.

An all-inclusive resort vacation in Punta Cana can be a true reset for families—especially when you’re traveling with grandparents and multiple generations. For us, this kind of trip isn’t about seeing everything or chasing a packed itinerary. It’s about unpacking once, simplifying decisions, and enjoying time together without the constant logistics that usually come with family travel.

On this trip, we stayed at Dreams Royal Beach Club Punta Cana, and overall, it worked very well for our extended family. One of the biggest highlights was the staff. Across the resort, everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and eager to help—something that makes a noticeable difference when you’re traveling with a larger group and varying needs.

We stayed in the Preferred Club section near the ocean, and this is an area where managing expectations—and understanding the layout—is important. The resort is divided into two Preferred sections, which can be confusing when booking. The newly renovated Preferred section is quieter and more modern, but it is not oceanfront. If being close to the beach matters to you, you’ll want to book a Preferred Club Oceanfront or Ocean View room to ensure you’re staying in the original Preferred section near the ocean. That said, many guests love the newer Preferred area for its updated rooms and calmer atmosphere—it just depends on what you value most.

Food is often a mixed bag at all-inclusive resorts, and this was no exception, but we did find some consistent favorites. Our best meals were at the Ocean Grill, the hibachi restaurant, and the rotisserie chicken and burger grill right on the beach, which was a surprisingly reliable and easy option—especially for lunch days when not everyone wanted a full sit-down meal.

As with most all-inclusives, this style of travel shines when expectations are aligned. You’re trading culinary excellence and cultural immersion for ease, comfort, and togetherness. We also like to balance resort time with a simple off-property day trip, which adds a bit of local flavor without turning the vacation into work.

Pros

  • Extremely friendly and helpful staff
  • Easy logistics for multigenerational travel
  • Oceanfront Preferred rooms offer great beach access
  • Flexible dining options that work for kids and adults
  • Minimal planning required once you arrive

Cons

  • Booking categories can be confusing
  • Food quality varies by restaurant
  • Less local immersion if you stay entirely on property

For our family, traveling with grandparents and kids in different stages, Dreams Royal Beach Club Punta Cana delivered exactly what we needed: a low-stress, comfortable home base where everyone could relax, connect, and enjoy being together—without anyone feeling responsible for making every detail perfect.

Beautiful beach with the option to rent a cabana for the day.
